Issue
The Women’s Leadership Centre seeks to strengthen its strategic direction and internal systems.
How we are helping
We are supporting the Centre to strengthen planning, governance, and communications systems.
About the project
The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.
The Women’s Leadership Centre is committed to advancing gender justice and environmental rights through advocacy and creative communication. With this grant, the Women’s Leadership Centre will strengthen its capacity for community outreach and engagement by creating a five-year strategic plan, strengthening internal governance, and establishing a new communications and information-sharing platform to support its ongoing work.
The key actions for this project are:
- Strategic and organisational development
- Developing a five-year strategic plan with support from consultants.
- Creating a staff and board appraisal policy.
- Communications and outreach
- Establishing a new communications and information-sharing platform.
- Developing a formal communications plan that spans all areas of the organisation’s work.
As a result of the project, it is hoped that the Women’s Leadership Centre will expand its capacity to reach and raise awareness within local communities using accessible, culturally relevant content. Strategic planning and improved governance tools will position the organisation for long-term sustainability and increased impact. Staff and partners will gain new skills in digital advocacy which, alongside the new information platform, will support engagement with communities, civil society, and policy-makers on key environmental and social justice issues.
