Issue
Many CSOs in Seychelles lack the capacity to meet the needs of their sectors.
How we are helping
We are supporting CEPS to review and deliver a tailored training programme for CSO leaders and staff, strengthening their capacity and enhancing project planning and delivery.
About the project
The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.
CEPS plays a central role in supporting civil society in Seychelles. With this grant, CEPS will strengthen its own services and increase the capacity of its members. It will deliver a comprehensive training programme for CSO leaders and enhance the skills of its staff—particularly in IT—to better support its members and address key gaps in project delivery, reporting, and evaluation.
The key actions for this project are:
- Programme design and delivery
- Reviewing and refining the proposed training programme.
- Recruiting participants through public advertising and interviews.
- Delivering training on project conceptualisation, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Evaluation and internal capacity
- Evaluating the training sessions and assessing trainee progress.
- Upskilling CEPS staff in IT to improve member support and service delivery.
As a result of the project, it is hoped that CEPS and participating CSOs will be better equipped to develop and manage projects. Trained CSO leaders will gain confidence in submitting proposals, monitoring outcomes, and guiding others in their associations. Internally, CEPS will build its IT capacity and be better positioned to assist members. Over the next two years, at least 10 CSO representatives will benefit directly from the training, contributing to a stronger and more coordinated civil society sector in Seychelles.
