How we are helping

We are supporting Policy Forum Guyana to develop a communications strategy and train staff in media engagement to hone the vital tools needed to increase impact and visibility.

About the project

The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.

Policy Forum Guyana works to advance environmental, social, and economic justice through inclusive dialogue and citizen engagement. To increase the visibility and impact of its advocacy work on the climate crisis, the organisation is seeking to strengthen its strategic communications and campaign delivery. With this grant, Policy Forum Guyana will develop a communications strategy for its ‘1.5° Lifestyle’ campaign, train staff in media engagement, and produce materials that improve messaging and stakeholder outreach.

The key actions for this project are:

  • Strategic communications development
  • Creating a broad-based and targeted campaign with clear messaging.
  • Developing a communications strategy to support the ‘1.5° Lifestyle’ campaign.
  • Capacity building and outreach
  • Designing media kits and campaign materials.
  • Training staff in media engagement and strategic communications.
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Establishing key performance indicators and gathering feedback through surveys or focus groups to assess communications effectiveness.

As a result of the project, it is hoped that Policy Forum Guyana will strengthen its communications capacity and expand its reach through clearer, more effective messaging. Staff will be better equipped to manage campaigns, engage stakeholders, and deliver high-impact advocacy. These improvements will increase the organisation’s visibility, promote more sustainable operations, and contribute to more effective use of resources.
